Association for Social Studies Educators and Teachers (ASSET)
ASSET was formed on March 20, 1999, as a voluntary non-government organization by Social Studies teachers. In order to achieve its aims ASSET in collaboration with Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA) offers a series of 3 workshops. The workshop has been organized to create an interest in the subject of Social Studies firstly for teachers which will filter in their students and also to give them tips on how to make the subject interesting for the students. It is divided into three 5 hours sessions which covers the nature and scope of Social studies, its thematic standards, concepts and strategies of teaching History, Geography, and Civics/Government.
OBJECTIVES OF ASSET:
The major objectives of the training sessions are:
. To facilitate the professional development of Social Studies teachers through discussions, workshops, seminars, conferences, symposia etc.
. To share and learn from each other for enhancing the teaching and learning of the Subject.
. To undertake research relevant to the teaching and learning of Social Studies and to disseminate its findings to through different media in variety of ways.
. To collect, compile, issue, publish and disseminate papers, periodicals, books, journals related to the teaching and learning of Social Studies.
